All About Thyroid Balance

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland found in the neck, just over the voice box. It plays a part in regulating a range of body functions, including growth, metabolism, heart beat, body temperature and nervous system health. The thyroid does this by constantly releasing a steady stream of hormones into the blood system.

The main hormones secreted by the thyroid are called T3 and T4. Adequate intake of iodine is needed to allow the body to manufacture these hormones. The pituitary gland in the brain measures T3 and T4 levels and releases a hormone called TSH when they are low. TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) tells the thyroid to make and release more T3 and T4. When T3 and T4 levels are high, the pituitary gland stops producing TSH. There is constant feedback between the thyroid and pituitary gland to keep this system in balance.

Thyroid conditions are relatively common, but even a normally functioning thyroid can sometimes produce too much or too little thyroid hormone. Stress, diet and lifestyle factors can all cause temporary thyroid imbalance. Even when a thyroid lab test comes back normal, it is still possible for a person’s thyroid to be temporarily over or underactive, because thyroid tests measure the population norm rather than normal levels for that particular person.

What is ThyroPromote?™

ThyroPromote is a homeopathic remedy that has been especially formulated to support and improve thyroid functioning in a thyroid that becomes sluggish from time to time, despite a normal thyroid test result. Thyroid Promote will also alleviate temporary symptoms of an underactive thyroid such as moodiness, fatigue, bloating and a sluggish metabolism.

The Natural Way

A holistic approach to health always offers the best chance of long-term success. Here are some holistic health tips to guide you:

  • A healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and regular exercise can go a long way to raising overall health and improving thyroid functioning.

  • Make sure your diet includes foods with added iodine such as iodized salt, seafood, kelp, sea salt and some dairy products.

  • Certain cruciferous foods can help decrease the production of thyroid hormones, including broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and kale. Try to avoid these vegetables if your thyroid tends to become sluggish, especially in juice form.

  • Moderate your intake of soy. Soy contains phyto-estrogens and estrogen is known to interfere with the body’s ability to utilize thyroid hormones.

  • If constipation is a problem, include plenty of fiber in your diet.

  • Regular exercise will help to keep you regular and will assist with keeping that extra weight off—a common problem with a sluggish thyroid.

  • Include foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, eggs, Goji berries, walnuts, olive oil and flaxseed oil.

  • If you are underweight, add protein to your diet, such as turkey, nuts, beans, legumes and eggs.
